Let's answer all your questions & put your mind
at ease

When you make a booking, you will be sent out an online form to complete.  This will thoroughly look at what your current need is and relevant history. This needs to be completed at least 48hrs in advance of your appointment. The more detailed you are with this the better prepared we will be before your meeting and leave the time better spent looking at your needs moving forward. You’ll still meet to discuss what’s going on and look at how to best support you to navigate any challenge in a way that aligns with your values.

Within approximately three working days of meeting, you will receive a written summary of what was discussed in the consultation and an agreed plan for you to work on.  CuedIn will touch base with you via email or text message to check in after an agreed period.  However, a follow up appointment will need to be scheduled for full on going support. It’s recommended that you have at least 1-2 follow up appointments but it is up to you and your needs.

It is preferred that all in-person consults take place in your home as it’s the best place to understand what’s going on for you and your family. If for any reason this isn’t possible, nor is a secure video call, please contact CuedIn prior to booking online to discuss the possibility of meeting at another suitable location. All therapy sessions will be held in a separate, safe space.

Emma & Dionne are also parents so understands the need to juggle parenting responsibilities and work. Therefore, we both operate services part time around our families, please see booking for our current availability.

Great question! CuedIn believes you are the expert on your own family but we all need a bit of a guiding hand sometimes. So here are just a few of the benefits of working with CuedIn:

  1. Around thirty years of direct experience between us working with families of all different make-ups and backgrounds to support their parenting – including Good Enough Parenting and therapeutic parenting;
  2. CuedIn considers your unique needs as a family, there’s no cookie cutter advice here! It’s expected that you’ll experiment with the different ideas we consider in order to see what is going to be the best course of action;
  3. Advice is based on current evidence across multiple disciplines and best practice: Any advice given can have a clear explanation of its theory. There are no personal opinions pushed and if CuedIn does not have expertise in a certain area you’ll be signposted or referred to a service that can better meet your needs. CuedIn is a particularly great fit if you’re interested in working with your child’s and your own biology and brains (instead of fighting against what naturally wants to occur);
  4. Unlike bigger organisations, any new training can be incorporated directly into your program without delay. This keeps CuedIn as up to date and dynamic as possible to be able to best meet your needs – especially as guidance and new research constantly changes.

Ultimately, having choice about who you work with and finding the right fit is hugely important to getting the right outcomes for you and your family. If you’re unsure if CuedIn is for you, get in touch for a no obligation chat.

Whilst our confidence calls are one-offs, if you’ve had an initial consult you can work with CuedIn as long as you need!

However, the aim is to work in partnership with you to develop the skills and knowledge you need to move forward. Emma & Dionne work to empower, not to encourage dependency. We can discuss together to decide when the time is right for you.

CuedIn understands that your financial situation may be a barrier to getting the support you need. Please contact CuedIn if you think you’d benefit from a consultation but would struggle to pay and we can discuss payment options.

If, on the other hand, you would like to support a family who may not otherwise receive the help they need, CuedIn runs a pay-it-forward fund – take a look at the last point in this FAQ section! Alternatively, get in touch if you’d like to buy loved ones a voucher.

Not at all! Whilst face-to-face appointments are great, CuedIn also offers appointments by video call on a secure, telehealth system (Cliniko) so you can access this service from anywhere in the world.

Whilst we support every family doing what is right for them and there’s no judgment here if you choose to do this or have tried it in the past, the simple answer is no – any sleep support offered won’t be any form of sleep training. You won’t hear CuedIn talk about needing to teach your baby sleep skills or use separation-based techniques, regardless of them being termed gentle or not.

In our professional opinion, the current research across multiple disciplines demonstrate that sleep training isn’t an effective way to support sleep for infants’ individual needs. Instead, CuedIn will work with the biological regulators of sleep, the circadian clock, and sleep pressure, as well as looking at your individual baby or child’s sleep needs and how that works in with your family’s needs.

We are happy to discuss this further with you if you’re interested.

Absolutely! CuedIn knows the first 1001 days of a child’s life is the most important, and this clock starts from conception so it’s a great time to prepare for your new addition.

We are particularly passionate about helping families to prepare for the emotional and mental aspects of parenting, which often isn’t included in traditional birth preparation courses, as well as understanding more about what’s ‘normal’ for infants in that first year of life (hint: society has some unrealistic expectations of both parents and infants!).

Please note: CuedIn does not offer any specific birth preparation and this does not replace the need to attend regular medical and midwifery appointments as required.

It’s fair to say there’s not the most favourable views of Social Workers as a profession. A lot of which isn’t helped by portrayals of Social Workers in the media and on soaps.

Firstly, as a private organisation, CuedIn operates very differently from social services departments, not that we criticise those as they do an incredibly important job.

Secondly, and what we see as one of the biggest benefits, having a social worker behind CuedIn means the service is grounded in a regulated profession.

But what do we mean by that?

‘Social Worker’ is a protected title, like Psychologists or Physiotherapists for example, where we have to meet high standards around our level of qualifications, ongoing training/development, and professionalism to be registered with a specific governing body. For us it is Social Work England and Emma is also registered in New Zealand as well.

This means not just anyone can call themselves a Social Worker and by being formally registered, we are accountable for our practice and have a clear set of ethics that we must adhere to.

So why is this important?

The world of parenting advice can feel like the Wild West where there are ‘experts’ every which way you turn. However, there is no real accountability for what people say which can make it hard to know who to trust. And, whilst people generally mean well, there are times when the advice can be problematic and because this area is unregulated, there is no recourse to address this.

Ultimately, CuedIn encourages you to understand who and where you’re getting your advice from.

CuedIn is fully GDPR compliant and is registered with the Office of the Data Protection Authority (ODPA) in Guernsey.  Please see our privacy policy for more information.

We recognise that private support isn’t accessible to all families and unfortunately, these types of preventive/early intervention services aren’t currently funded. If you would like to donate and pay-it-forward so that a family can have access to our services, Emma will match the donation with her time.
