Family Consults

It can be tough to navigate the different ages and stages and the pressure we often place upon ourselves to be perfect or get it right all the time.

CuedIn can give you a guiding hand as parents and caregivers without having to sacrifice anyone’s needs along the way.

Evidence-based consults are inclusive of all ages and family make-ups and work with your own unique needs to develop practical coping strategies. Work with us to find flexible and responsive approaches that are sustainable long term.

This is not an exhaustive list. If you’re unsure if CuedIn can support you in a specific area, please get in touch for a no-obligation chat.

Please note: these consults do not replace the need to seek out medical or psychological support as required.

AREAS OF EXPERTISE

This is often a BIG focus for parents, especially in those early days! CuedIn follows up-to-date research on sleep and considers how the body and brain naturally work (biology and psychology instead of older, behavioural-based approaches).

We will support you to use this information to your advantage to experiment with changes, working with things like the circadian clock and sleep pressure, to fit with your family’s individual needs.

As adults, children and young peoples behaviour can sometimes be challenging.

We will support you to translate different behaviours to understand the need your child is trying to convey to help you get to the root cause. Working together to develop strategies in this way is the most effective as CuedIn views behaviour as a form of communication, even from a young age.

When you change the way you perceive behaviour and work at this level you can really come alongside your child instead of it always being a battle.

Do you find your child has BIG emotional reactions that you don’t quite know how to manage or find overwhelming?

CuedIn understands emotions from the level of the nervous system and how to best target strategies to help with regulating this through their relationship with you. By utilising tools to support emotional literacy and approaches like PACE (playfulness, acceptance, curiosity, empathy) we will help you to gain the skills to support your child with their emotion regulation.

Being a parent is demanding at the best of times and it’s very easy for your own needs to take a back seat whilst focusing on your family. This can often lead to feeling overwhelmed and developing chronic stress or burnout.

CuedIn understands the importance of prioritising parents’ emotional well-being for the benefit of the whole family without needing to sacrifice your children’s needs.

We will use our understanding of the nervous system and use tools from acceptance and commitment therapy to support you, and your whole family, to move from surviving to thriving.

Parents often say they felt very unprepared for the mental and emotional aspects of becoming a parent or welcoming subsequent children into the family, as most preparation courses focus on the actual birth (also very important!). Whilst every family faces different challenges, CuedIn can support you with understanding the changes ahead, focus on what you can control, and develop a plan around how you can support your whole well-being as a parent- a bit like a well-being first aid kit.

We can also help you with things like practical strategies to prepare and support your child with the addition of a new sibling whilst still prioritising your relationship with them.

Unfortunately, there’s no parenting handbook and that first year can be very overwhelming, especially when trying to figure out your baby’s needs. CuedIn uses the possums approach in supporting your care of your baby and have a background in infant mental health (yes that’s a thing!).

We understand the importance of your relationship with your child and will work with you to develop strategies that support their development, linking to their sensory needs and understanding the role feeding can play in helping babies regulate.

It can be really challenging as a parent if the people who care for your child disagree on the approach you want to take or if you’re trying to figure out co-parenting following separation with your partner. CuedIn has a high level of skill in working with difficult family dynamics whilst keeping children’s needs at the heart. We will sensitively support you to control the controllables and build in strategies that will align with your values.

We are almost constantly surrounded by different views and opinions and it can be pretty overwhelming trying to navigate all of the parenting information – especially as guidance is updated regularly.

CuedIn is experienced in working within areas like child development, infant mental health, psychology, attuned care, the importance of those first 1001 days, and keeping afloat of new and emerging research. CuedIn can support you to understand what’s “normal” to help put your mind at ease or help you understand how you can use current guidance to your advantage.  Let us do the legwork so you can focus on what’s important to you.

It can be difficult navigating the various services and professionals involved with your children, especially if the situation is already stressful. We have extensive experience working locally, with good knowledge of how the systems work. If you’re finding it overwhelming or struggling to get your voice heard, we can support your individual needs/journey.

Birth Trauma Therapy

For some, the birth of a child can be an empowering experience but for others, it can be deeply traumatic.

Unfortunately, for those who have experienced trauma in childbirth, it can have a profound impact on not only birthing people but also their partners’ well-being and journey into parenthood, especially if left unprocessed. Your experiences and feelings are all valid.

Emma will be offering Birth Trauma Resolution (BTR) Therapy, accredited by the Royal College of Midwives.

Please get in touch if you’d like to know more!
